It’s my birthday, and I’m alone. Can you believe it? I’m at a friend’s house, and she’s out of town, so it’s just me. At least I’m in lovely Santa Monica, right near the beach, and I’ve ordered some Indian food to be delivered.
It’s been a rather uneventful day, but I did have a rather disturbing dream last night.
I was in high school, which is normal for my dreams. At the end of the dream, I was riding in the car at night with four of my friends, and amorphous demons. They kept trying to take over the bodies of my friends, and the car would swerve along a treacherous mountain pass.
I kept saying the Lord’s Prayer to get rid of the demons, but they’d come back and the cycle would repeat. But eventually, I started to forget the words. I could only muster bits and pieces of the prayer, until there was nothing left. And the demons won.
I’ve had dreams like this, but never where the demons won. It’s saddening.
